CSRE provides several opportunities in the summer for students to continue engagement with the program.
Public Policy Institute (CSRE 220)
Public Policy Institute (PPI) is a course that takes place during the two weeks prior to the start of autumn quarter.
Before a student wishes to participate in PPI, they submit an application to the CSRE Student Services Specialist, Jordan Gray, before approximately May 20th in the spring.
If accepted, students will be provided housing (until they can move into their fall housing assignment) and meals.
To earn credit for PPI, students then enroll in CSRE 220 during autumn quarter, after they have taken the course. Should students wish to count CSRE 220 toward the CSRE Core course requirements, they need to enroll in the course for 5 units and fulfill the additional work required to earn the 5 units.
Community Based Research Fellowship
The program facilitates research internships that are community-based, community-supported, and include an analysis that engages issues of race and ethnicity. Students develop a research project in collaboration with a community partner and a faculty mentor, develop their research plan through coursework in the Spring, and execute the research during a full-time summer internship with the community partner.
Bing Honors College
Students who intend to write a senior honors thesis have the opportunity to participate in Bing Honors College before the start of their senior year. BHC provides students an extended period of focus and time to work closely with a faculty member on the beginnings of their thesis.
If you are intending to write a thesis with CSRE, and are interested in taking advantage of this excellent opportunity, please apply to BHC on the Bing Honors College website
