H. SAMY ALIM Receives Early Career Award for Division G of AERA
Professor H. Samy Alim, School of Education and (by courtesy) Anthropology and Linguistics, is the recipient of this year’s Early Career Award for Division G of the American Education Research Association, awarded to scholars recognized as having an exemplary early career record of research on the social contexts of education.
Professor Marjorie Faulstich Orellana, Chair of the award committee wrote:
“I am pleased to announce that Dr. H. Samy Alim is the recipient of this year's award. Dr. Alim was nominated by Kris Gutierrez and had letters of support from Shirley Brice Heath and James Banks. The committee noted the breadth and depth of Dr. Alim's work as evidenced in his record of publication (from top sociolinguistics journals to the New York Times), its creativity, importance, and international impact.”
