Decolonizing Latinidades: Race, Gender, Indigeneity and Sexuality

Dr. Gabriela Spears-Rico is a Mexican Indigenous (Pirinda) scholar and poet. Her fmaily migrated o the United States from Michoacán, México, when she was four yearsz old and settled in the Santa Maria Valley where she grew up as th eundocumented daughter of migrant farmworkers. She is an Assistant Professor of American Indian Studies and Chicano and Latino Studies at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and is the recipient of numerous academic awards and fellowships, including the Mellon Mays Fellowship at Stanford University. Dr. Spears-Rico is currently working on her first book, Mestizx Meloncholia and the Legacy of Conquest in Michoacán.
