Indigenous Healing Psychology
Over the past 50 years, Richard Katz, a Harvard trained Clinical Psychologist, has worked worldwide with Indigenous elders and healers. At their request, Katz seeks to have their Indigenous teachings spark a revisioning of mainstream psychology, hoping to encourage that mainstream toward a deeper respect for diversity, a fuller commitment to social action, and a more sensitive appreciation of the spiritual dimensions to health and healing. These Indigenous perspectives represent a model of best practices in psychology. Professor Emeritus at First Nations University of Canada, and Adjunct Professor of Psychology, University of Saskatchewan, Katz is the author of seven books on culture and healing, including the recently published Indigenous Healing Psychology: Honoring the Wisdom of the First Peoples.
