Abstract:

In this paper, I talk about my experiences working with Imagining Justice, which is creating an arts-based prevention/diversion program for youth impacted by the justice system. The Imagining Justice program is structured around the ideals of positive youth development and using the arts as a tool for reflection, healing, and empowerment. I also analyze my own role in the program as a person of privilege and how I navigated my work among a community that I am not a part of. The paper includes my key deliverables: a chart of juvenile case flow, an Imagining Justice white paper, and a proposal for collaboration with the Stanford Arts Institute.
