CCSRE Hosts National Leadership Summit

On June 19, CCSRE hosted a National Leadership Summit with colleagues at similar centers, institutes, and programs across the country. The one-day summit included discussion on opportunities to increase our impact in the current political moment, strategies for public engagement, and new areas of intellectual growth. Provost Persis Drell addressed the summit on the work being done at Stanford to increase faculty diversity and create a more inclusive university. Prof. Claude Steele also presented new research on the challenges of creating diverse communities, particularly within academic institutions.

In addition to CCSRE faculty and staff, participants at the summit included faculty and staff from the following:

  • Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America (Brown University)
  • Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society (UC Berkeley)
  • Institute for American Cultures (UCLA)
  • Critical Race and Ethnic Studies (UCSC)
  • Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration (Yale University)
