Dr. MarYam Hamedani is Associate Director of the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity (CCSRE) at Stanford University. As a sociocultural psychologist with her PhD from Stanford, Dr. Hamedani's expertise lies in understanding how culture, race, ethnicity, and social class structure society and shape people's identities, experiences, and opportunities in the world. Her current work as a scholar-practitioner and administrator applies this sociocultural framework to equity and diversity issues in education and social justice issues more broadly. Prior to joining CCSRE this fall, Dr. Hamedani was Associate Director of the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education (SCOPE) at the Graduate School of Education.
