Cyan DeVeaux is a second-year doctoral student in the Department of Communication. As a member of the Virtual Human Interaction Lab and IxD Group, she researches the psychological, behavioral, and sociocultural implications of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). In addition to her educational AR/VR research, she is interested in how identity is understood and presented in social VR. Some of her current work explores racial representation and the experiences of people of color in the metaverse. At Stanford, she is also Co-Historian of the Black Graduate Student Association and recipient of the EDGE Fellowship and Stanford Graduate Fellowship in Science & Engineering. She holds an interdepartmental B.A. in Computer Science and Visual & Media Studies from Duke University.
