Ethan Alfonso

Undergraduate Council
Asian American Studies Liaison

Ethan is a junior majoring in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity and Psychology. Born on the island of Guam and raised in Hampton, Virginia, he carries with him the stories, resilience, and community values that have shaped his commitment to justice. His passion for uplifting marginalized communities is rooted in his own lived experiences navigating institutions not built with everyone in mind. Ethan hopes to pursue a career in civil rights law to advocate for equity, dignity, and collective liberation, especially for communities that are often overlooked or unheard. Through CSRE coursework and community-engaged programs, he has found language, history, and frameworks that help him better understand systems of power and begin dreaming for futures beyond what those systems have allowed us to imagine.

On campus, Ethan serves as a Program Coordinator with the First-Generation and/or Low-Income Student Success Center (FLISSC), where he works to build affirming spaces, strengthen support networks, and ensure that FLI students can not only access Stanford, but also feel at home within it. He is thrilled to be the Asian American Studies Liaison and looks forward to sharing time, space, and energy with you all. He will hold office hours on Thursdays from 2–3 PM in the CCSRE Undergraduate Lounge. Ethan believes deeply in the power of community care, storytelling, and solidarity as tools for change. He is always happy to talk about CSRE classes, community advocacy, navigating Stanford as a FLI student, and pathways into public service and civil rights work. Most of all, he is excited to keep building community with others who are dreaming for futures beyond what our institutions have taught us to expect.
