Jisha Menon, associate professor of theater and performance studies in the School of Humanities and Sciences, is the new Denning Faculty Director of the Stanford Arts Institute (SAI). Menon will continue to teach and she remains director of Stanford’s Center for South Asia. She is affiliated with the Program in Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, the Program in Modern Thought and Literature, and the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity.
Shelley Fisher Fishkin is the Joseph S. Atha Professor in the Humanities, Professor of English, and Director of American Studies at Stanford. She is the author, editor, or co-editor of over forty books, and has published over one hundred articles, essays and reviews, many of which have focused on issues of race and racism in America, and on recovering previously silenced voices from the past. Her award-winning books include Was Huck Black? Mark Twain and African American Voices and Feminist Engagements.
