Isaiah Phillips
Isaiah Philips is a hip hop artist whose work focuses on coping with loss and striving for self actualization as a black man in America. Philips was born at Stanford hospital and raised in the neighboring city of East Palo Alto. He Spent much of his early career teaching youth how to use art and rap in order to process the trauma and hardships that often came with growing up in their neighborhood. During this time, he partnered with the John Gardener Center in developing a Non-profit Arts Center in his community. More recently, he moved to South Central, Los Angeles, where he creates music that helps others cope with loss and feel seen on their path to self growth. He has been featured in many projects at the center of black culture, including dancing in Kendrick Lamar's iconic Alright music video, and appearing in the premiere episode of Issa Rae's hit show Insecure.
