Jameelah Morris is a doctoral student in the Department of Anthropology focusing on Afro-descendant political mobilization in Latin America. Her research will explore the legal, social, and spatial articulations of blackness in Colombia within the context of ongoing activism against anti-black violence(s). In conversation with Latin American Studies and Black Studies analytics, she is interested in how memory, spatiality, and black life itself is shaped by these dynamics in Colombia’s “afterlife of slavery”.
