Latinx Art Beyond Museum Walls

Project Description:
The legacy of Latinx art is not centered at mainstream museums or galleries. Instead, this legacy lies at community centers, libraries, and grassroots spaces, which have nurtured the work and unique needs of Latina/o/e/x artists and long recognized their importance to social justice movements, the building of cultural pride, and the imagining of just and liberatory futures. To ensure that these vital spaces are remembered, respected, and valued, Latinx Art Beyond Museum Walls researches and creates resources on their dynamic histories and will establish a national network of faculty, graduate students, and other stakeholders committed to this art history.
