About The Research Institute

The Research Institute of  the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity  fosters scholarship, community, and critical dialogue among Stanford’s interdisciplinary community of race and ethnicity scholars. Through its programs and events, the Research Institute spotlights the latest thinking and research on race and ethnicity both within and outside of Stanford, supports the pipeline of race and ethnicity scholars across fields and topics, and disseminates research-based strategies and solutions to foster a more equal and inclusive diverse society.

Faculty Seminar Series

Monthly lunchtime talks that feature the latest scholarship in race and ethnicity studies across disciplines and topics. Speakers include both Stanford faculty and scholars from universities around the country and globe.


Quarterly afternoon book salons,  also called "chautauquas," that feature CCSRE’s Faculty Research Fellows in intimate conversation about their latest work.
