Jenny Evang

Jenny is a PhD candidate in Modern Thought and Literature, pursuing PhD minors in Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity. Before coming to Stanford, she earned a B.A. in gender and sexuality studies and physics at Brown University. Her research has explored the relations among anti-gender movements, the rhetoric of gender equality, and homonationalisms by drawing on queer and trans theory, postcolonial studies, and critical race theory. Currently, she is writing a dissertation that explores representations of sexuality, race, and gender in contemporary Norwegian media by focusing on the aesthetics and ethics of blurring temporal, spatial, and indentitarian borders. Her work has been published or is forthcoming in TSQ, Journal of Scandinavian Cinema, South Atlantic Review, and Iambda nordica.
