Marco Antonio Flores is a doctoral student at Stanford University where he specializes in modern and contemporary art of the United States and Latin America. His dissertation focuses on the photography and film of Laura Aguilar, and her metamorphoses from flesh to stone. He is also interested in art’s connection to literature and poetry as well as art’s presence in everyday life. In 2019, he curated 'staring at the sun,' a solo exhibition featuring rafa esparza at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. Flores is a recipient of the Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship and a fellow in the Director's Office of the Clark Art Institute. He received a B.A. and M.A. from the University of California, Berkeley and a second M.A. from the Williams Graduate Program in the History of Art.
